Space September 16th, 2011 - ZK Software’s New Lumidigm Mercury-Enabled LA2000 Fingerprint Terminal — High Reliability at Lower Cost

LA2000 Now Available with Either Lumidigm Venus or Mercury Multispectral Biometric Sensors

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – September 16, 2011 – Lumidigm today announced that ZK Technology, has added Lumidigm’s Mercury multispectral biometric sensor to the LA2000 fingerprint terminal, which previously has been available only with Lumidigm’s Venus sensor. Compact and cost-effective, the Mercury sensor is a lower-cost alternative to the highly successful Lumidigm Venus sensor in the ZK LA2000, a fingerprint biometric terminal that has been providing award-winning multispectral imaging capabilities to fingerprint applications worldwide.

“Adding the Lumidigm Mercury option to our LA2000 represents an important breakthrough in our ability to deliver the multispectral imaging value proposition to more customers, more applications and more markets,” emphasizes Jaimin Shah, CEO of ZK Technology. “The Mercury sensor greatly enhances our ability to address applications where reliability and cost are major drivers.”

“Multispectral imaging assures LA2000 users that they will get a read on their first try,” adds Bill Spence, Lumidigm vice president, transaction systems. “Lumidigm provides a more effective fingerprint solution that is based on using multiple wavelengths of light and advanced polarization techniques to extract unique fingerprint characteristics from both the surface and subsurface of the skin, providing results that are more consistent, more inclusive and more tamper-resistant — regardless if the finger is wet, dry, chaffed or dirty.”

The ZK LA2000 terminal supports 50 time zones, five groups and ten unlock combinations to make it a truly stand-alone access control reader. TCP/IP, serial and Wiegand communication are available for connecting the terminal to a network or third party access control panel. The terminal provides 1-touch 1-second employee recognition and has the capacity to store 8,000 templates and 200,000 transactions. Multi-language firmware supports English and Spanish by default. Optional French and Portuguese language support is available. Multi-factor authentication options include card/PIN or password. The LA2000’s ABS housing is durable and elegant in appearance. It is available in two versions.

The ZK LA2000 terminal and Lumidigm’s new Mariner fingerprint reader will be showcased at ASIS, Lumidigm booth 2937 in Orlando, September 19-21.

Space Mar 29, 2011 - ZK Technology Exhibits Lumidigm's Multispectral Imaging Fingerprint Biometrics at ISC West 2011

Lumidigm Partner Will Demonstrate Why Biometrics Are Showing Up in Places Never Dreamed of Before

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — March 29, 2011 — Lumidigm today announced that one of its partners ZK Technology (Booth 18140) will show attendees at ISC West in Las Vegas, April 6-8, why fingerprint biometrics are now being used on construction sites, in medical labs, on heavy equipment and many other places heretofore considered not appropriate for the technology. Attendees will see fingerprints being verified under water and while wearing latex gloves. Each company has products that leverage Lumidigm’s multispectral imaging sensors.

“Not that long ago, security designers had to be very careful about deploying fingerprint biometrics,” explains Bill Spence, Lumidigm vice president of transaction systems. “If the environment wasn’t exactly right, it was difficult to enroll people and, later, to get good reads. Thus, they have not been able to get rid of their cards, which are costly to replace and not very secure, until now. Lumidigm’s multispectral imaging technology sensors now make this all possible.”

Lumidigm multispectral fingerprint sensors capture fingerprint data beneath the surface of the skin so that dryness or even damaged or worn fingers create no problems for reliable reads. Using multiple wavelengths of light and advanced polarization techniques to extract unique fingerprint characteristics from both the surface and subsurface of the skin, Lumidigm’s sensors provide results that are more consistent, more inclusive and more tamper-resistant than conventional biometric readers.

As a result, biometric readers developed by Lumidigm’s partners can scan through dirt, dust, high ambient light, water and even some latex gloves. Nonetheless, the design of the biometric fingerprint readers is simple, resulting in units that are small, require minimal training and are easy to install. The biometric readers are employed by a variety of customers, including schools, corporate buildings, universities, hospitals, apartments, perimeter control, construction sites, office blocks and others.

The research firm of Frost & Sullivan recently awarded the New Product Innovation of the Year Award, Fingerprint Biometrics, North America, 2010, to Lumidigm. According to Frost & Sullivan, Lumidigm’s “innovative technology allows Lumidigm fingerprint sensors to provide highly accurate biometric data even in adverse conditions where traditional fingerprint sensors fail.

Space Jan 11, 2011 - Cybershift Announces the Impulse 3G Clock

North Jersey firms peddling efficiency products to retailers

It's a good time to sell services to retailers who want to operate more efficiently because of the retail recession of 2008 and 2009, according to North Jersey companies seeking new clients at the National Retail Federation convention this week in Manhattan.

CyberShift's 'smart time clock,' called the Impulse 3G, allows workers to sign in via a fingerprint scan.
"Part of the new normal of retail is wanting to do everything faster, cheaper, smarter," said Tad Shepperd, who heads the Wyckoff office of Claris Solutions Group, a consulting firm that helps retailers improve their performance. During the recession, he said, retailers made cuts to survive, and now as the economy improves, they "are looking at how to bring that efficiency into all areas of their business."

That mood is keeping Claris consultants busy this year. Claris was among the 20 businesses with a New Jersey connection that were trying to reach retailers this week at the trade show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The companies for the most part were upbeat, saying their sales increased at the end of 2010 and they expect that to continue in 2011.

CyberShift, a Parsippany-based provider of workforce management and expense management software, had so many customer meetings lined up that the company reserved a second booth at the show for meetings and demonstrations. And CyberShift had already committed to its largest booth ever for next year's show.

At last year's show, CyberShift landed fashion retailer Metropark as a client, and the chain launched CyberShift's workforce scheduling program on Black Friday. "We're seeing retail and particularly retail [employee] scheduling become a very large revenue growth area for us," said Laura Hills, vice president of sales.

CyberShift at the show Monday introduced one of its new products, a "smart time clock" called the Impulse 3G. The portable device, about the size of a clock radio, allows workers to sign in by swiping or scanning an ID card or by inserting a finger for a fingerprint scan.
